About HNSPL

HNSPL traces its history to 1878. A founder member of the Bombay Stock Exchange, the firm has operated for more than 140 years, and it is also a member of the National Stock Exchange. Today the family's sixth generation looks after that legacy.

The current management brings the same foresight and business sense as the generations before it. We count some of the top financial institutions and many corporates among our clients, and our relationships with the leading institutional names go back more than four decades. Together with high net worth individuals, these three groups are the backbone of the firm.

Seth Nemidas Hemchand, a Jain Bania from Porbandar, came down to Bombay at the age of 25 and began trading shares in 1878. He bought his exchange card for Rs. 5, which was the price in those days, and built the business on tenacity, integrity and hard work.

The firm began in 1878 as Manmohandas Nemidas & Co. It later traded as Harjivandas Nemidas & Sons, and today it is Harjivandas Nemidas Securities Pvt. Ltd.

His son, Mr. Harjivandas Nemidas, grew up in the business and led it after 1910. Mr. Harjivandas died in 1918. His successor, Mr. Pranjivandas Harjivandas Nemidas, toured the US and European stock markets and met the heads of several international exchanges. Read the two published accounts.

1. 1878Founded

   The firm is founded as Manmohandas Nemidas & Co. and becomes one of the founder members of the Bombay Stock Exchange.

2. 1960Fourth generation

   Prasanna Broker joins as a fourth-generation entrepreneur and takes the firm to new heights. HNSPL is empanelled as a broker with FIIs and DIIs.

3. 2016SME market making

   HNSPL starts market making for SME companies.

4. 2018Fundraising

   HNSPL helps a company raise funds and list on the exchange.

5. TodaySixth generation

   The sixth generation takes the firm forward, bringing modern tools, including AI, into research and day-to-day operations.
